Visit Our Museum

Since 1995, the German American Heritage Center building was saved from demolition, restored, renovated, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and has become Davenport's newest museum.  Read about the history of the building...

INTERACTIVE PERMANENT EXHIBIT “The German Immigrant Experience”

Since 2007, the GAHC has undergone a complete interior renovation and exhibit space was increased by six times the original layout.  The museum includes an interactive, audio-visual permanent exhibit, “The German Immigrant Experience


Tuesdays through Saturday 
open 10 am – 4 pm
Sunday open 12 – 4 pm
Closed Mondays

The museum will be closed 
on  the following holidays:    

- Easter Sunday
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Columbus Day
- Thanksgiving
- December 24, 25, 26
- December 31 and New Years Day

Adults: $5
Children: $3 (5 – 17 years old)

which takes visitors on an exploration of what it was like to be an immigrant to this area in the 1800s.  The exhibit is highly interactive and includes a theater, audio-visual stations, artifacts and two restored hotel rooms. The creation of this exhibit area marks a major milestone at the GAHC; achieving its goal of providing a premier educational, historical and recreational experience. It was designed by Morgan-Bailey Consulting out of Des Moines, Iowa.

The GAHC also has two temporary exhibit spaces that will change throughout the year showcasing different exhibits:

Open November 8:  Amazing Advent Adventure - A Christmas Exhibit for the Entire Family  and  Winterscapes - An exhibit of winter themed fine arts by Artists Unlimited.

The GAHC also offers a variety of classes, programs and events.  Our calendar of events will keep you up-to-date on what's happening at the Center.
